MySQL (Wikipedia) is a multithreaded, multi-user, SQL (Structured Query Language) Database Management System (DBMS) with an estimated six million installations. MySQL AB makes MySQL available as free software under the GNU General Public License (GPL), but they also dual-license it under traditional proprietary licensing arrangements for cases where the intended use is incompatible with the GPL.

SugarCRM (Wikipedia) is an open source CRM package based on the LAMP stack. SugarCRM is a full featured CRM (Customer Relationship Management) application for small business to the enterprise. Comprised from PHP and MySQL it is designed for maximum ease of deployment for the management of sales leads, business contacts, and more.

Asterisk (Wikipedia) is a free software / open-source software implementation of a telephone private branch exchange (PBX). Like any PBX, it allows a number of attached telephones to make calls to one another, and to connect to other telephone services including the PSTN. "Its name comes from the asterisk symbol, *, which in Unix (including Linux) and DOS environments represents a wildcard, matching any filename." [1]

Apache HTTP Server
(Wikipedia) is a free software/open source HTTP web server for Unix-like systems (BSD, Linux, and UNIX systems), Microsoft Windows, Novell NetWare and other platforms. Apache is notable for playing a key role in the initial growth of the World Wide Web, and continues to be the most popular web server in use, serving as the reference platform against which other web servers are designed and judged.

APLAWS is an Open Source Content Management System developed to assist UK local authorities deliver services online (find out more about the project). There is a growing user group. The system has been improved considerably as part of the Local Authority Websites National Project over the period April 2003 - March 2004 and part of a Rollout and Dissemination phase for 2004/5. APLAWS community is now moving towards becoming user-led.

OpenOffice.org (Wikipedia) is a free and open source office suite, including a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, vector drawing and database components. It is available for many different platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Unix-like systems with the X Window System including GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris and Mac OS X. It is intended to be compatible with, and compete with, Microsoft Office, it supports the OpenDocument standard for data interchange, and can be used at no cost.
